Novato, Marin County
Mount Burdell, the grassy summit on the north side of Novato, is protected as open space and crossed by trails with views to the bay. On the bayshore, Hamilton Field served as an Army and Air Force base from the 1930s to the 1970s; its Spanish-style hangars and barracks have been converted to homes, offices and a museum. Novato incorporated in 1960.
